Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture. This information is used to create and manage your account.

Quiz Data

We store quizzes you create (titles, descriptions, questions, answers) and participation data (names, scores, answers, completion times).

Payment Information

We store Lightning Network wallet addresses provided by users for receiving payouts. We do not store private keys or have access to your wallet funds.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the quiz platform
• To authenticate your identity and manage your account
• To process Lightning Network payments to quiz winners
• To display leaderboards and quiz results
• To prevent fraud and enforce fair play
• To improve the platform through analytics

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and user management
• Blink — Lightning Network payment processing
• Vercel — hosting and analytics
• Neon — database hosting

4. Quiz Participant Data

Quiz participants provide a nickname and optional Lightning address when joining. This information is visible to the quiz creator on the manage page. Participant scores and answer details are visible to quiz creators for educational purposes.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained until you delete your account. Quiz data is retained as long as the quiz exists. Completed quizzes with participants cannot be deleted to maintain payout records.

6. Security

We implement security measures including:

• Firebase token verification on all authenticated endpoints
• Rate limiting on public API endpoints
• Input validation and sanitization
• Encrypted database connections
• HTTPS for all communications

7. Cookies

We use localStorage for theme preferences and session data. We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. We do not use tracking cookies.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data through your profile page
• Update your name and Lightning wallet address
• Delete your account (which signs you out and removes your profile)
• Request information about data we hold about you

9. Children

KnowledgeBit is intended for educational use and may be used by students under teacher supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy at any time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform.
